This picture is originally part of a compilation of an autobiography assignment. I chose this picture because I liked how the depth of field was shown unintentionally. An element shown in this photo is line because of how the shape of the books is. A principle shown in this photo is unity because books have a relation towards one another.

Best Actor Head Shot

I was assigned to take pictures of actors that displayed certain types of emotions. In this photo, the subject portrays a “removed” emotion. An element shown in this photo is value because of the colors in her hair, eyes, and face. A principle shown in this photograph is emphasis because her face is focused on.

Self-Portrait

This picture is a self-portrait. The purpose of it was to reveal something about me. An element shown in this photo is line because of the structure of the treadmill and the blinds. A principle shown in this picture is movement because the subject in the picture is moving.

Scanner Art

This picture is four different pictures and three different objects put together. With the help of Photoshop, I was able to flatten all these layers into this photo. An element shown in this picture is value because of the different grays, whites, and blacks. A principle shown in this picture is variety because there is different objects and pictures compiled all together.

Photoshop Altered Image

A Photoshop altered image is a photograph changed with the use of Photoshop. In this picture, first I selected the rose and then selected the background to change it to a grayscale type of presentation. An element shown in this photo is shape and form because of the shape the roses show. A principle shown in this photo is emphasis because it’s very focused on the rose and it shows great detail.

Sunprint Image

In this image, I had to use a type of paper that had certain chemicals that was able to capture the shape that the objects when it was shown in sunlight. An element portrayed in this picture is shape and form because of the shapes that were shown by the shadows of the objects. A principle shown in this picture is variety because of the variety of objects shown in the picture.

Principle of Design

In this photo, it had to show some type of principle of design. An element shown in this picture is texture due to the display of the rocks. A principle shown in this picture is mainly unity because it’s a picture of all rocks of different colors put together.

Margaret Bourke-White’s Style Photograph

This picture is in the style of Margaret Bourke-White because many of her photos were in the style of photojournalism. Photojournalism is basically photographs of individuals in their everyday lives. An element shown in this photograph is value because many of the different grays, whites, and blacks shown through the parts of the plane, people, and the sky. A principle shown in this photo is variety because all of the people are doing different things such as being interested in planes, cars, and other things.

Element of Design

The purpose of this assignment is to portray one of the elements of the design. Elements of design are line, shape and form, value, color, space, and texture. In this photo, an element, shape and form, is portrayed through the presentation of the leaves. In addition, a principle of design shown in this photo is unity because of the leaves all together.

Environmental Photograph

The purpose of this picture is to show a person in their environment. The lady in the photo is in her office which is an example of someone in their environment. An element shown in this photo is line because of the desk, computer, and building structure. A principle shown in this picture is pattern because of the lines shown in the building.

Shutter Photo

This photo shows water dripping frozen in time. In order to produce this type of image, I had to use a fast shutter speed on my camera. The element portrayed in this photograph is shape and form because of the shape that the water displays. In addition, the principle shown is movement because water was supposedly moving but was frozen in time thorugh this snapshot.

Ansel Adams Nature Photography

Most of Ansel Adams photography are shown in black and white to reveal value. In addition, his photos are mostly of nature. In order to capture an "Ansel Adams" photograph, you would have to pick specific times of the day to get a satisfying image that displays value, usually sunrise and sunset.

This photo was taken during a camping trip and I realized that it was suitable for an Ansel Adams photo. The element of value is highly expressed through the use of light and dark colors. The objects in the photo display unity because they are related to nature.
