Ad Council

In this unit, we learned how to make our own ads and how to advertise our topics. The topic that I chose was teen dating violence. All three pictures show how teen dating can lead into dangerous problems and violence. The elements and principles displayed in this photo are space, color, line, shape, texture, emphasis, balance, and movement.

Fun with Still Life

Toy Portrait

We were required to take a picture of a toy portrait. The objective was to make a formal style toy portrait. In these pictures, I believe lighting was the most difficult thing to deal with. The elements shown in these pictures are shape, space, and texture. A principle shown in these pictures is emphasis.

Narrative

We were assigned to take a picture of a narrative of three to seven pictures belonging to one person. I decided to collect my valued possessions for my narrative photo. The elements shown in this picture are shape, color, space, and texture. The principles shown in this picture are unity and emphasis.

Still Life

In this unit, we were required to take pictures of a kitchen utensil and something found in the bathroom. I decided to take a picture of a whisk and dental floss. The elements of art shown in these pictures are shape, color, space, and texture. These elements are displayed throughout the both pictures due to their physical design. The principles of design shown in this pictures are movement and emphasis because the viewer's eyes moves throughout the photo and both the whisk and dental floss are

emphasized.

Surrealist Image

We were assigned to take a surrealist image. A surrealist image is a photo of something that isn't real. In this photo, I cropped out a bear and pasted it on a picture of our school's cafeteria. In this picture the elements of art are line, shape, and texture because of the structure and shape of the cafeteria and bear.

Warhol

We were assigned to compose a photo in the design of Andy Warhol. In order to complete this picture, I had to use Photoshop. I was able to make this picture by using different layers and filling it with different colors. The elements of art shown in this picture are shape and color. The principles of designi shown in this picture are emphasis and pattern.

Portrait Pet

We were assigned to take a portrait of a pet and their owner. The objective of this project was to be able to display the relationship between the pet and their owner. I decided to take a formal portrait of the pet and their owner because their relationship between each other is very close and loving. The elements of art shown in this picture is line, shape, texture, and color. The shape and texture are displayed by the pet, the line is displayed on the floor, and color is displayed throughout the whole photo. The principles of design shown in this photo are emphasis because it emphasizes on the pet and its owner.

Zoo

Formal:

The class was assigned to take three pictures in particular on our trip to the zoo which were formal, popart, and environmental. The formal picture was supposed to show an animal displayed in a formal portrait. The popart style picture was made with the help of Photoshop. Lastly, the environmental photo was a picture of an animal in their environment. The elements of art shown in these pictures are line, shape, color, and texture. The principles of design shown in these pictures are unity, emphasis, and proportion.

Joiner's Photomontage

This photograph is a composition of many photos of my room. We were assigned to take pictures from the same distance. Elements of Art in this photo are line, shape and form, color, and space because of the objects shown in the picture. Principles of design shown in this photo are unity, variety, movement, and proportion. Unity is shown because all of the objects in the photo are in one room, and it shows variety because they're different objects in the room. Movement is implied because the viewer looks all over the photo and proportion is shown between the speakers and tv.

Texture

The assignment was to take pictures of certain figures of texture in nature. I didn't really know what to take pictures of at first but I noticed that flowers reveal a certain type of detail in the shape of their leaves and pollen. The elements and principles shown in three of the pictures are line, shape, texture, color, unity, and pattern. These elements and principles are displayed throughout the photo.

Landscape

We were assigned to take pictures of different types of landscapes. I decided to go to the beach because of the waves and the shapes of the mountains. The elements and principles displayed in this photo are shape, movement, pattern, value, space, texture, proportion and unity. The shape of the mountains displays how this photo has shape. There's also movement in the waves. In addition the footsteps in the sand show pattern. The whole picture shows value and space and proportion because of the lighting and the mountains and rocks. Lastly this photo shows unity because everything is at the beach.

Photo Essay

The six photo essay is to take pictures of subjects that are related to one another. I decided to do "a day at the beach" for my topic. A main element shown in each picture is line because of the structure of the bridge, the fences, the poles, and the beach. A main principle shown in each picture is value because of the differences of contrast and black and white.

Chapel

Mercy Street

The photography class was asked to take pictures around Mercy to give a little preview to the Mercy life. The element shown in this photograph is line because of the stairs and shape of the railings. The principle of design is movement because the viewer's eye travels through the picture as he or she look at the stairs.

Stop Motion

This video is a composition of many photos that displays a basketball player improving her lay-ups every time she attempts them. I used Adobe Premiere Elements in order to make this video. I also changed the ISO speed and focus to capture the subject at a pretty good distance and with less blur. The elements in this video are line and space because of the bleachers and the space the subject has in order to move around. The principle of design in this video are movement, unity, and proportion. Movement is displayed in this video because the subject is moving throughout the whole video. Unity and proportion are also displayed because everything in the gym are related towards one another and the subject and the basketball court can be seen as a proportion.

Action Shot

This picture was taken when my friends and I decided to go bowling. I waited for the right time to capture the shot while the bowling ball was going to be released from the subject's hands. I also edited the photo a bit with the help of photoshop. An element displayed in this picture is line because of the bowling lanes. A principle of design displayed in this picture is movement because the subject is moving as she releases the bowling ball and unity because of the bowling lanes and pictures displayed above the area where the pins are placed.

Artificial Movement

I took this picture when my family and I visited the Grand Canyon. As my dad jumped up, I decided to take a picture when he was in the air. I used Photoshop in order to have the blurred look. An element displayed in this photograph is line because of the lines in the rails and fences. A principle of design in this photo is movement because it shows my dad jumping in the air.
